CESSNA 172 ZS-JDN

In the summer of last year, in response to various requests, particularly from a certain
Mike Ballis in Canada (who I wish would get in touch again), I knocked up a Cessna 150
which proved to be very popular, presumably mainly with those who prefer, like myself,
the lighter side of life.

Anyway, the original 150 was subjected to various repaints, both authorised and
otherwise and one which fell into the latter category was ZS-KGH (actually a 152) which
flies out of the Cape Aero Club in Cape Town, South Africa. The repaint was done by my
(now) close associate Lee Hall who also added a superb panel, so superb in fact that in
conjunction with its revised livery, KGH is poised to overhaul its precursor in the stats.
race and may even have done so already.

Lee and I are now involved in a major historical project aviationwise which may see the
light of day eventually, but in the meantime we thought it appropriate to give another
Cessna lightplane some publicity and chose ZS-JDN, also from the Cape Aero Club, as
a suitable subject.

We are not sure precisely which version of the ubiquitous 172 is represented by
ZS-JDN, which incidentally in owned by a gentleman who goes by the name of "Rocky"
who has not given his permission, as far a I am aware, for us publicise his aeroplane, so
hopefully there will be no repercussions. Rocky makes JDN available to other members
of Cape Aero for recreational activities, one of whom, namely Jonny Hoffman (a pilot but
possibly also a recreational activity !) flies her regularly, and has provided valuable input
(including crawling around with a ruler) in pursuit of visual and flying accuracy.

To Lee and Jonny (and Rocky by implication) I offer my sincere thanks for their help in
developing JDN (through 5 stages) into a reasonable facsimile of the real thing. We all hope
that you will get as much fun (sorry, instructional value) out of flying her her as we have
from the build/paint/dynamics processes.

This model is released subject to the usual things on which I will not elaborate and of which
some people take no notice anyway so there seems little point in so doing. It will respond
to the usual key depressions but on engine shut down, apart from the prop. blades appearing
someone kindly soul shoves a chock under the nosewheel and applies a safe sex cover to the
pitot head, so stop first !

It would have been nice to include a little more animation in the JDN model, mainly in relation
to the prop. effects but regrettably all the necessary data sits here in "suspended animation"
for want of knowledge of the Spanish language. MM, should you read this, how is the
translation going ?!
